Radio installation for 2002 Volkswagen Beetle

Asked by kianab95 Nov 24, 2014 at 08:01 PM

Question type: Car Customization

I want to put in a new radio for my
recently purchased 2002 Volkswagen
Beetle as it does not have a CD
player or an AUX plugin. First, the
radio space is a sort of sideways
oval shape and I need to find a radio
to fit in that space. Second, I was
told I need some type of kit to
actually do the installation? please
help.

Try Ebay for the installation kit for your beetle, once you see which kit you need it should tell what size radio you can use.

Metra makes all the kits. They can be bought on ebay or Amazon. This is a kit that supposedly fits 2002 VW bug http://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-9008-Dash-Beetle-98-Up/dp/B0002BEZ62

Crutchfield has a thorough overview of your audio system and installation and a good selection of kits and replacement receivers. A decent place to start your research. If you purchase a radio from them, often the installation kit is free.

I've just purchased a Volkswagen 2002 Beetle and you can go to walmart and purchase a Cassette tape aux which is just a cassette tape with a aux cord attached to it. I paid around five dollars for it. It fits right into the Volkswagen beetle radio.
