1995 was the transition year from R-12 Freon, any NEW car sold in North America in or after 1996 had to use R134a refrigerant. If your Caddy is 1996 or older there are some provisions that allow, under certain circumstances to use R-12, but it is not available to the public. OR it can be converted, but left to professionals to do so. Some manufacturers made the switch as early as 1993. GM Could have been one, not sure there. Also BEWARE..you don't say what year your car is but there are products on the market that are labeled R-12a Freon and in very small print 'replacement' They are not real Freon CFC
