Why are tires noisy?

Why do cars tires make so much noise and why
aren't they just silent?
I think car tires are very noisy we have all this
technology but we can't make cars silent aside
from the engines

my idea. I don't like noisy tires either. I found the more expensive the tire and the softer the tire the less noise it will make, also the better handling you will have. the best things you can do for your car is new monroe shocks and new soft tires. just my idea but i do this myself. and I never use any other shock but monroe.

The noise level is dependent on the tread pattern and the road surface. It the road were smooth as car paint the tires would be very quiet. The tread also moves air which makes noise. A lot of technology and design features go into tires to make them quiet. Look for tire noise ratings when choosing a tire.
