Aftermarket Radio install. Then starting issues.

Question type: General

I replaced the factory radio. with a Sony XAV-AX5000 I did not cut any factory
wires on my 2012 ram 1500 quad cab 4.7l. Radio worked perfect after the
install. All the wires on the wiring harness were soldered and heat shrink
tubing applied. all the wires on the harness matched up were checked and
rechecked. Now the issue. I went out to start my truck it would crank really
good but not start. I tried it again 20 minutes later it started with the warning
lights but sounded like it was only running ion 4 cylinders. The Lightning bolt
warning light was flashing along with the service 4 wheel drive light. NO check
engine lights were on. I put on my code reader it saw no issues. So I
unplugged the radio waited about 20 minutes truck started with no warning
lights. Truck is running good now. I had the tech guy at crutchfield stumped.
Seems like my ram does not like this radio. Any suggestions about installing
this radio and not having starting issues and warning lights?

I literally have the same story-just installed a Kenwood double din and had the same issue with my engine not starting. Did you ever find a solution?? Please help I’m so stumped!

Tessa after talking with Crutchfield it took a few weeks to figure out why I was have all kind of issues with my 2012 ram after installing the radio. The Ram computer did not Like the Crux SOOCR-26 Wiring Interface Module. I bought a different wiring harness that did not have any software module in it. I had to splice the power wire into the 12v accessory wire. That was easy. after I installed the radio with the new wire harness similar to this image all the issues went away. If you have any options in your steering wheel to control your radio you may loose them with this setup. I did not have that option I only lost in the dash saying my radio was on. No big deal for me. Good luck.

Did you have to cut the bracket in the dash to install the radio. I know the early 4th gen rams have more of a 1 3/4 din opening on the backside and generally have to cut the bracket. But looks like the xavax5000 is between a single din and double din size. But with the back of the unit being flush with the too of the screen were there any fitment issues. Looking at this radio for my 09 ram 1500
