97 Chevy 4.3L Over heating

Asked by JimW66 Dec 05, 2018 at 07:26 PM about the Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my truck started to overheat. I seen that the coolant wasn't circulating in
the radiator. I pulled the thermostat and it still wasnt circulating. I replaced
the water pump still not circulating. I pulled the heater hose off while the
truck was running no water? I checked the oil no water in the oil. I looked to
see if any water was leaking anywhere, no leak? No water is getting into any
of the cylinders either. I checked the radiator and all hoses nothing plugged.
What the heck is the problem?

Check to see that the thermostat wasn't installed backwards. Also check the serpentine belt routing to make sure the water pump is rotating in the right direction. There is usually a sticker under the hood showing the correct belt installation.
