Thinking about purchasing one for $2000.00 Do you know the quality of the car for that year

Wow....what a buy...what does the interior look like? Is it a diesel? there are two areas of concern when I buy a car....what does the interior smell like? and what does the exhaust smell like? Check underhood for evidence of a prior overheat...then take a look at the coolant color and level...the crankcase oil smell and color...the transmission fluid color and level...if you've a mechanic buddy get a compression check done comparative analysis of each cylinder....get a smog check...have them put the car on a dynamometer to check the performance of the engine and smog devices~
