When you get that warning it is also known as "limp mode" to get you off the highway to a safe place with reduced power to prevent further damage to your car. Your OBD has detected a fault and you need to find out what it is. Any parts house will scan your OBD free, code(s) that begins with a "P" followed by four numbers. P1234 for example. Write down the codes and post them back here, one of us will help you make a decision on the fix.
