Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 GLS V Mitsubishi Montero
automatic is having issue on gear. It
takes almost 45 minutes to engage in
Drive to move forward. I experienced it
with Reverse first, but didn't happen
again. I discovered that I need to wait
30 minutes to 45 minutes before I can
shift to Drive after about 5 hours that
my car is parked and I need to leave
the area. Help please.

Thank you on your answer and I appreciate it. Fluid is new. Reverse shifting is normal, what really disturbed me is I have to start the engine and wait for 45 minutes before the Drive gear takes in after couple of hours of engine is off. After that everything is normal, gears are all normally shifting. Nonetheless as you've said, I will definitely bring it to transmission specialist as soon as possible.
