some people really ask loaded questions. It's telling you that a government regulated test, designed 100% to reduce emissions, has detected a sensor(s) reading that is outside specified parameters. Anything from gas evaporation to fumes exhausted.A damn scan (that you have to pay for) will give a sensor or even list of sensors that are reporting data to your PCM. A lot of times you can run a vehicle forever with that light on, sometimes it will cause the computer to go to a mode that will start eating up more gas and sometimes it will give your computer such a headache that it will go into limp-in mode and let you barely drive. So what does it mean in your case, well;anything from a loose gas cap to a cat converter and everything in between.
