Does the VIN on the title match the VIN on the car? If so, it was made as a coupe and has had the VIN swapped (illegally). Do a vehicle history search and see what you find out. The VIN on your car might have come from a wrecked car.

HI: The VIN 1G1AY078XE51043000 says 84 coupe but mine is a white full convertible.Looks unmolested.Help.I have called the RCMP for fun .

A factory convertible should have a 6 and 7 in the 6th and 7th position. No factory convertibles were produced until 1986. This is the Vin identifier for the 1986 Corvette. The "Vehicle Identification Number" (also VIN or serial number) is stamped on a plate on the inner vertical surface of the left windshield pillar visible through the windshield. Position Character Description 1 1 US built 2 G General Motors Product 3 1 Chevrolet Motor Division Vehicle 4 A Type of non-passive passenger restraint system 5 Y Corvette 6 & 7 07 Body style number: two-door hatchback coupe 8 8 5.7-liter Cross-Fire Injection (CFI) Chevrolet V8 9 ?
