How do I get my nav system to say street names, not just "in 100 ft turn left".

It always best to start with selecting the settings options then look for a voice tab. However, not all systems have this available. Even some new nav systems will not voice street names. Hope this helps.

My "portable" Garmin did. I went to voice prompts and it only gave me the option of ON/OFF. I turned on, but it doesn't voice the street names. I'm not interested in using an inferior Nav. system. In a strange area, I don't want to have to take my eyes off the road to read that little street name on the screen. I am VERY disappointed with the on-board Nav. system. I will go back to my "portable" Garmin, since it is so much better and much more accurate.

Garmin is hard to beat, but I always recommend taking a paper map with you just to be safe.

I guess what disappoints me the most, is that my in-dash Nav System is Garmin, or at least that's what it says on my car's screen. Would you not think that Garmin, whether hand held or in dash would function equally well? As far as the "paper map" thing. I always have an up-to-date atlas in my car, but the purpose of using Garmin, is so you don't have to stop and/or take your eyes off the road. Now that I've seen both, I just feel cheated.
