My 4 year old toyota hiace van which only did 97 k have a damaged diff

I have sercived my van  every 4mnths  yet i have found a damaged diff ,is it
possible.What could be the reason

There is somtime no rhyme or reason why a part becomes defective. It could Be the age of the part the age of the car or the amount of mileage on the vehicle. You seem to care for the car by doing regular maintenance that most people don't. just think of all the other problems you have avoided by doing regular maintenance on the vehicle.
