Car randomly dies

Asked by Brendawagoner84 Dec 14, 2016 at 02:27 PM about the Cadillac Escalade

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car will randomly (die) when I'm driving
down the road..it doesn't completely die
but will not let me go over 20 mph and
when I pull over it shakes a little bit but
then once I shut it off and restart it will be
ok for a bit! Sometimes it does it a lot and
sometimes not as much! Was wondering
what could be causing this! When it "dies"
the car reads "stability system disabled"

It could be several things that is causing the car to die (almost die) fuel filter when is the last time it was changed, It could also be the pump is starting to go, that can be check when the car is up to temp because that seems to be the time the car is almost dieing. You could have a really dirty throttle body and or bad throttle body. Tune-Up when is the last time you did a complete tune-up on the car. You could also have clogged injectors

Dear Brendawagoner84, I'm facing the same issue with my 2005 Cadillac escalade ESV. Would you please help me to solve this issue. Every time I try to check for a fault it doesn't show any fault as the problem is not there at the time of check. Thanks in advance for your support.

I have a 2019 Escalade. Cadillac evidently decided that you cannot let your car idle more than 30 minutes. If you leave the key fob in the car it will idle, they say, for 1 hr. The point being, as a dog owner, we leave the a/c on for our dogs whenever they go with us. My Ram truck would idle till it ran out of gas. We went out to eat and came back and the engine was off! Fortunately it had not gotten too hot in the car. This could have been a disaster. Cadillac, as this moment, does not have a solution! Nor do they tell prospective buyers of this issue. It will take a tragedy of someones pet dying before they take notice. I have contacted Cadillac directly and so far, no solution. They say it is a software issue. It could take a year for them to change the programming...a year?! This is a 100K car! Damn them!

Hello, my car randomly shut off and on while driving. The battery and alternator where good when checked. It turns out that the battery contacts were a little loose. Once they were tightened and problem subsided. I hope this helps!
