I have a cable under my dash for the 4 wheel drive.

I have a cable under my dash for the 4 wheel drive. I must press the elec button on the dash and them pull the cable . this is not stock , what does it do and how do I make it stock again??

The transfer case electronics wnent out and was replace with a manual engagement cable.
