Spark plugs damp with gas????

Why is it that when I try to start my van it
don't start, I look at the spark plugs and
they were soaked with gas??

Does it crank and just not start? Have you tested it for spark? And is it getting any? If not, it sounds like a timing issue (jumped time or broken belt/chain), or coil pack/ is dead. If there is no spark the gas can't burn.

It cranks and sounds like it back firers, smoke started coming out of where air filter is at.
