1998 Tracker Engine swap

Asked by kkwindham Feb 09, 2008 at 10:35 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet Tracker

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1998 Chevy tracker with a blown 4 cyl engine. I need to know if a 92-95 1.6 16valve G16A tracker engine will work as a direct replacement in my tracker.

No, the 1992-95 Tracker used OBD-I engine management computer protocols, and the 1996+ models used OBD-II. This is a definite no-go.
