I think my driver side lumbar popped?

Asked by Kathryn Jul 11, 2016 at 07:53 PM about the 2008 Lincoln MKX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2008 lincoln mkx 2 days ago. As I was
driving down the road, I needed to adjust the lumbar and I
heard a pop noise. When I got home I noticed the when u
want the lumbar to come out more, u can see the back of
the seat where the lumbar pushes it put wasn't pushing it
put but I can hear the motor working. Can anyone tell me
maybe how to fix this without having to buy a new lumbar
thing? Also, I noticed today that the radio was making a
winding sound. It sounded like it was trying to eject a cd
but I knew I hadn't put one in there. Long story short, I
looked inside where u put a cd and it looks like someone
had put a cd in and it's stuck. Anyone have any ideas how
the heck to get the cd out? Thanks for any help in advance!

Crazy. My 2009 MKX did the same thing about a week ago. Literally the exact thing (touched button, something popped, can hear motor when button pushed, nothing changes). No clue BUT my battery is being replaced today due to it failing to start twice because my condenser fan went out (car started over heating at stop lights...) and had been draining battery to cool the car. So I've been searching these oddities... Fan replaced, new battery today, fingers crossed we're done.

My 2011 MKZ lumbar support stopped working. Lumbar is deflated. Motor makes no sound. A real pain in the lumbar.

Happened to my drivers side two years ago in my 2009 Lincoln MKX. As it was still under warranty I took it to the local Ford garage. Turns out the motor winds a steel cable, which pulls up on the bottom of a steel plate, which causes the plate to bow out and creates the lumbar shape. The cable broke. No way to fix. They pulled the seat out and replaced the entire assembly. (As the assembly removed from the bottom of the seatback, it has to be removed). Because it was still under warranty, didn't cost me anything, so I cant advise as to the cost. Probably around $300 as took 1-1/2 hours labor.
