2008 Dodge Charger Alternator harness plug wires

Asked by Kevjoisom Oct 30, 2018 at 12:29 AM about the 2008 Dodge Charger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We were changing the alternator to our 08 Charger.
The wires inside the computer connector plug
came out in the process. We cannot find a diagram
anywhere telling me which wire is which.
We tried guessing and might have fried the
computer. We just bought a new battery too so we
are hoping the issue is in the connector plug.
We are going to get our old alternator tested to
make sure it is an alternator problem and not the
computer.
But which color wire is close to the security clip??
Agh!

Get in touch with your local Dodge dealership's parts or service department. They should be able to get you a wiring diagram at no charge.

So, I finally went to the Dodge dealership after searching the internet and they gave me the diagram. I'll post it below. I have a 2009 Dodge Charger SXT. While changing out the burnt up alternator it fell to the ground and pulled out the connections completely. Couldn't figure out which wire went to which port. Looks like it will be the same for many years and models. But check the diagram and your connector as well. As you can see the Red and Grey wire (mine was just red) in the bottom or port 2. And the Black and grey wire in the top or port 1.
