2001 Cavalier Problem

When my car is running and my air condintioner is off. It makes an aweful sqeeling sound. Then when I turn my air conditioner on the sqeeling stops. Is my air compressor going to take a dump on me or is it something else?

have the belts replaced,or serpetine belt replaced,no i dont think your ac is going bad,is it cooling.

Usually running the air conditioner will make the belt squeal louder??? If you haven't changed the belt in a while, it would prolly be a good thing to do, but in all honesty, sounds more like the AC Clutch is not fully disengaging.
