Check Engine light and Cruise Control light

Asked by mcguzy Dec 02, 2014 at 04:39 PM about the 2008 Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The Check Engine Light (steady) and the Cruise control light (flashing) came on
randomly one day. When I fill my gas tank up the lights go off until I get a little below the
1/2 mark. I've heard this might be my 0-2 detector....is this a possibility and how
expensive do those tend to be?

There is one before and one after the catalytic converter on most or all models that I know of. I would have the codes scanned and figure out which one you need. If you intend to replace it yourself, definitely get on the forums and look for tips as some tools don't fit effectively while some do. I'd also recommend checking prices on ebay / amazon / rockauto / etc. The price depends on which one.. my 03 upstream was like 92 bucks or something and has been fine since. That is interesting that it happens around half tank. You might ask on a forum as there are excellent gurus on the forums. Kind regards,

Add oil. In the manual book it says that is the sign for low oil.

Chris, Did you ever find out what was wrong with your car? I am having the same problems right now. Half tank, CEL goes on... full tank, the CEL goes away including the Cruise control light.
