Smaller accessories like door locks, radio, interior lights, etc. require a lot less amperage to operate. The battery may have enough charge in it to make them work, but not enough to engage the starter. It wouldn't hurt to put a charge on the battery or try and jump it from another vehicle to see if that works. And like mentioned above check fuses and start relay under the hood in the fuse block.
