Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Chevrolet cavalier that I'm
trying to replace the brake pads on. I tried
taking the pins out of the caliper with a 3/8
Allen wrench, even though it fit I just couldn't
get enough torque to break it loose and get
it out. What type of socket  or wrench should
I go to the part store and get so I can get
those pins out and replace my brake pads??

I would retract the pads and unbolt the caliper rather than disassembling the caliper.

Thanks I will go get a 3/8 drive hex bit set .. and I have no idea how to retract the pads and unbolt the caliper. I'm just gonna do what I saw on the YouTube video which is to take the 2 pins out of the caliper the take the pads out replace with the new pads and put the caliper back on.. I'm very very new to this mechanic thing lol I'm just trying to save myself a few bucks by replacing the brake pads myself.. thanks alot for the answers guys

Be careful as this is life or death. Not a place to save money if you do not know what you are doing. There should be bolts (probably 2) that bolt the caliper to the steering knuckle.

Yeah I watched a video on it and it looked pretty simple. Take the 2 pins out of the caliper well it might be bolts he call em them pins in the video . Take those out pop out the old pads out in the new ones and put the caliper back on and tighten the bolts back and job done. ALSO I'm gonna look to make sure my rotor don't need replacing
