Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1985.5 Nissan 720 pickup and when I engage the emergency brake I
can return the pull handle to the normal position that should release the cable
but I have to go underneath the truck and actually pull on the cable to get it to
release so I can go forward.  Reverse isn't a problem.  Do I need to replace the
cable to will a simple adjustment do?

May just need adjustment remove rear drums and check the emergency brake cable connecting to brake shoes and check to make sure the self adjuster is not seized up. Clean , lubricant , and adjust as needed. When putting drums back on adjust self adjuster making sure brake shoes have a slight drag against drums.
