Question type: Car Customization

I would like to upgrade the performance of my '85 Karmann Ghia edition Cabriolet. I'm pretty
sure it has the 1.6L, along with aftermarket tires. The clutchhas to be replaced first, but I'm not
sure exactly what to do next. Any ideas?

There's another photo of my car here: (PS It's the picture in the main body of the text)

The 1.8 would be a drop in replacement (I'm betting that's what's actually in there)... the 2.0 ABA would be 20hp increase but would require the newer computer and wiring harness. Hardcore performance would be a 1.8T...would require new transmission as well. I wouldn't ever consider a VR6 because of all the structural changes needed. My vote would be the 2.0 ABA...with cold air intake, 2.5" exhaust, G-grind cam and performance chip you could see 150hp...in that light car it would be plenty.
