Hi revedup. I didn't find production numbers for your Chargers on the web. I fact I found a couple comments that those numbers aren't available. I did find this production list for the 440 six pack across Mopar showing 2 Chargers known to exist from 1972 and nothing from 1973 ... Hope this helps ... Good luck! ... http://www.mymopar.com/6packprodnumb.htm

'73 was the largest production year for that generation with 120k total - can't say how many of 'em were the 440 though...

73 Triple black SE 440, is rare. Is it worth a lot is another question that only time will tell. I have been told that 73-74 Chargers with 440 are rare period. Next would be cars that are not earth tones, meaning if the car is brown, green, yellow etc this is earth tone. Other colors are rare. I have a 73 SE Brougham 440 car that is gray with black top, black interior. I personally would keep the car originally, but its your car, your decision.

They made a total of 263, 1973 SE chargers with the (U) code 5th digest in your vin. If your vin is not a U then you do NOT have an orginal 440 car,, having said this Dodge produced less the 300 of these cars, there were a lot of 400 73 SE chargers made but not 440 chargers. The U code is the holy grail of 1973 SE charger's

My boyfriend just found a 1973 U code 440 big block....he is wondering how many are still out there...?

No one has an accurate count on the 73-74 U code Chargers. But here is some food for thought 73 began the gas wars and the crushing of many cars deemed gas guzzlers. Alot of big block cars were destroyed so normal car attrition would be higher on these models. After attending car shows all over the states for the last 30 years I haven't seen or heard of more than 45-50 of these cars. That's just guess from my experiences.

Need more info like all options and trim level. In general the 73-74 Charger are just starting to be recognized. Very few are big money cars at present but I have seen some super nice examples in the 40-60K range.
