Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 2006 mini cooper, when drove on the road suddenly lose all power
including electrical, no lights no indications even no hazard. Electrical jump
start c/out still no power. Car towed back to car park and on next day still no
power, open the engine compartment door and tried to touch the main
battery cables and engine fuse box, suddenly all power came back and
engine started as normal, Please advise what's the problem? Thanks

We just went through something really similar a few days ago with my 05 mini. After quite a lot of research we figured out that it was 2 separate problems. 1) was the battery cables were dirty and then 2) the dampener pully had separated from the belt drive. It was possible to repair everything ourselves to fix/replace within several hours and lots of determination. She’s running beautifully now. Hope this info helps

Clean and tighten your battery cable connections. Put Vaseline on the terminals to prevent corrosion. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks Bros, So if the cable's problem (may be the contact) why it's suddenly stopped when driving and no electrical power when using the jump start?

another thing I need to highlight that I had used a new charge cable for my iPhone charge and plug into the cigarette lighter then after around 10 minutes the car was stopped with no power, Is this would hurt the circuit?

You're welcome. Glad to help. If the bad battery cable connection is is not at the battery but at the other end of the cable, when you hook up your jumper cables you will still have a bad connection. Hope that helps! Jim

If the hazard light won't come, I prefer it's a really battery cable problem, does anybody know there should be no Fuse or electrical circuit between the battery to hazard lights so the light can be switched on at any condition. Right?
