TRUCK ALARM

Asked by MIKENSCAL Jun 21, 2010 at 11:19 PM about the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 and the alarm goes off at random times only when we're at home.  The other night we went out to check the area and heard our nasty neighbors laughing.  We have had trouble with them for about 1 year.   We had the truck checked and nothing wrong was found.  Is there a way they could be triggering the alarm by remote?

There are ways. If they have a device that transmits on the same frequency, for example. My first thought is to have the frequency on which your system communicates changed. Or, you could park your truck and set the alarm of before going inside. It shouldn't take your neighbors too long to get so fed up with the noise that they don't even consider lighting you up when it's quiet.

Spray door switches with WD 40 Hood and tailgate switches if so equipped. Also check the battery strengh of the key Fob. Sometimes as the internal battery weakens, it may send out a random signal to remind you to replace the battery. (dumb idea). Many Auto stores have a device at the check out to show battery life of the Fob.
