Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have A 1994 Dosge Ram 1500. The headlights
won’t come on at all. But if you pull back on the
dimmer switch they will come on. If you release the
dimmer switch they will go off. They go out the
moment you release the dimmer lever. Any
suggestions on how to fix or what to look for ?

Sounds like a faulty multi-function switch.

Where would this switch be located ? Inside the steering column ?

when the "dimmer/hi-beam-low-beam" switch is pulled, the is a temporary contact of both low and high beam lights. When you let go of the switch, you've either got hi beam or low beam ONLY. The easiest and most obvious based on your description and known failure rate is the light switch on the dash. start there, the contacts get burnt after 24 years of service. It is however, also possible the low-hi beam switch is dirty/bad...this is a 50/50 proposition for you...good luck!

I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 2500. The head lights won’t come on just the running lights come. I replace the off and on head light switch and still won’t work. What could be the problem?
