Do i need a new oil pump

Oil pressure drops and goes back up.ran it a little
low on oil.it makes a ticking noise like valve rattling
when the pressure drops.when it goes back up,no
noise.Could it be i need a new oil pump

It's possible, but engines with a lot of wear also can see oil pressure drop after they warm up (excessive bearing clearance, valve seals, worm piston rings, etc). Are you seeing any blue smoke from the exhaust? Are you losing oil as well? Before committing to a new oil pump try mounting a mechanical gauge at sending unit, 1/4" NPT fitting and see what's going on with oil pressure.
