When I step on accelerator I hear a whistling sound from back of engine...what is the cause?

You have a vacuum leak - possibly the egr valve - have someone put an good ear to the rear of the engine while someone steps on the accelerator a little bit to pin point it

A plugged catalytic converter. When the converter gets plugged, the back pressure causes a whistle that varies in pitch depending on engine RPM.
