Car shut off

Asked by Tamrap Dec 31, 2016 at 12:49 PM about the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my 2006 pt cruiser and it
suddenly shut off and won't crank back up.
All the lights were still on. What could cause
this? Some people have said timing belt and
others have said fuel pump. It also did this
last week and a towing company jumped me
off. Had the battery tested and it was good.

Bad fuel pump wouldn't cause it to not crank. (crank is the starter motor works, but engine doesn't run). Did you get any trouble codes set? Keeping in mind a dead battery or its removal will blank the codes. If you're timing belt went you might have got a crank sensor DTC.
