Engine and Transmission Swap - 1957 Ford Thunderbird

What modern engine and overdrive replacement transmission would you
recommend for my 1957 Thunderbird?  I just want a dependable ride.  
Currently have a 312.  Don't need extra horse power and tired of my trans
leaking all over the place.  Thanks for your help.

Depending on your resources $$$$$ most Ford engines can be added to the early T-birds . ..although any of the Y blocks are dependable and simple. Check out all the forums
