I would like more information on the engine size/hemi?

Asked by miketu Apr 23, 2007 at 02:32 PM about the 1954 Chevrolet Suburban

Question type: General

The auto I am inquiring about is a 1954 chevrolet suburban.

1 Answer

In 1954 both Chevrolet and GMC were producing Suburbans, both each maker put a different engine in their version. Chevrolet used a 236-cubic-inch inline 6-cylinder rated at 112 horsepower. GMC used a 249-cubic-inch inline 6-cylinder rated at 125 horsepower. The Hemi engine was first developed in 1948 for Jaguar and showed up on Chryslers in 1951, but I can't find any mention of a Hemi appearing in a Suburban. Hope that helps, miketu!
