1970 Monte Carlo with small block 400

Question type: Car Customization

I purchased this off original owner a few weeks ago.  Shadow gray, black vinyl
top and that small block 400.  All stock.  The 400 has steam holes and it is a
pain in the butt, so I decided to go with a 350 4 bolt main and pump it up
nicely.  Any reason I should not?  Just checking.  Thanks,

In my opinion changing an original vehicle such as this will greatly reduce the value of it. The 70 to 72 Monte Carlo has been a desirable vehicle for many years, especially in original condition! About 20 years ago a guy from work had one, also a 1970 model, that he put up for sale for $1,000. It was a beat up rust bucket of a car. His phone was ringing of the hook and he sold it in 1 day for the thousand dollars!! Hope that helps! Jim

Steam holes? If the block is porous you have no choice but to replace it. Like GA says a 383 would be a good choice.
