Impala 327 or 302

Asked by Anthony Mar 23, 2015 at 05:31 PM about the 1964 Chevrolet Impala

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 300hp 327 sbc out of my
1964 impala wagon that was sent to
get hot tanked and  bored I recently
got a 283 (alsp small journal forged)
my question is, should I go with a
302 or a 327 for my daily driver and I
do tend to hot rod a lot. I want
something that is streetable but also
has power on demand, money is a
factor

Well the 327 came with double hump heads with 1.94 intake valve when I bought it. It has a bad valve so I planned on using my set of l31 vortec heads, goingjjn with a single plane( maybe dual) intake and solid roller cam valvetrain I already have some full length x frame headers which I plan on using too

If you make it a 302 it will like higher revs and have less torque. I wouldn't suggest it for a wagon. I'd stick with the 327 it better if you on a budget for sure
