Gas type

Asked by Lee Mar 24, 2018 at 06:10 PM about the 1968 Chevrolet Caprice

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently purchased a 68 caprice and the owner
didn’t tell me much about it. I want to know what kind of
gas should I put into the car? Also does it need a zinc
additive for the oil?

Does it ping on regular? If so use a higher octane gas. I would use a zinc additive in the oil and a lead substitute in the gas unless the engine was rebuilt for unleaded gas.
