how do you fine out what motor you have in a 1978 chevy blazer

take your vin number to any auto parts store they can tell you what motor is supposed to be in that car by the vin i cant remember what digget it is but they can tell you

8th digit. Most likely it's a 305 or a 350. Unless it's been swapped, which is very likely due to the age.
