what auto trans is in my 78 with factory 400 motor?

this k-5 bonanza has factory 400 motor, auto trans, 12 bolt rearend with 3.73 gears, trailer/tow,ac, etc. the owners manual says th350 or th400 for that year. any help very appreciated! thanks

Most likely the THM400 is the trans in your vehicle. This was used in most GM vehicles for many years. You can tell by looking at the shape and number of bolt holes in the transmission pan, and taking this info to an auto parts store to compare with their diagrams.
