1997 T100 Cabin filter?

Asked by pbartell May 29, 2013 at 01:11 PM about the 1997 Toyota T100

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the blower motor/fan assembly today in my 1997 T100 as its main bearing
had failed. When I felt up in there where the squirrel cage blower goes I found a crud-
covered piece of foam rubber. I removed the glove box and saw what looks like a filter
(foam with a plastic grid). I've read that the T100 doesn't have a cabin air filter. There
doesn't seen to be anything important between what I'm looking at (through the glove box)
and what I'm feeling inside the blower housing. BTW, my A/C works great after I
recharged it last season.

Is there maintenance I should do here, maybe vacuum the foam off? But there's nothing
to be replaced?

Please straighten me out.

Thanks Guys!

I have a 95 T-100 SR5. It has NO cabin air filter. You are seeing the outer seal of the 'Flapper Door" for the switch from Outside air to Recirculating air from within the cabin. In the Recirc position the door is "up" and the air flow goes directly to the blower motor from behind the glovebox. When you are on outside air, it is closed and the intake air comes from above via the cowl. This is NOT a filter. The filter shown in an earlier response looks like an air filter for the engine.
