2002 Toyota Camry le 6 cylinder

Vehicle died while driving it. It will not start. A
tester was hooked up and the code said it was the
crankshaft position sensor I put the new one on it
still would not start so I was about start process
of elimination. Well I checked the oil first and it
was thin and the odor of gasoline was really
strong. What should I do?

Gas Oder in the engine oil...very bad. DO NOT START THE ENGINE. BIG $$$$$ repairs could result. Find the Fuel Pressure Regulator. It is usually a round device with a rubber hose attached. Pull off the rubber hose and smell the hose and the nipple it is attached to. If you smell or see gasoline...you have a bad FPR. Change the oil and Filter before a restart. You might have to replace the Spark Plugs if they are fouled with gasoline. Get back with results.
Jerry.....any updates concerning the issue with this vehicle?
Haven't had time yet. But I was wondering as long as it has not been started since it has died that changing the oil and FPR it should be fine . Not sure if I would want to do it if bigger more expensive problems would be an issue. I would like your thoughts and your opinion if it wouldn't be to much trouble.
I understand your concern about the fost of repairs. Change the oil and filter is a start. Beyond that ....well....depends on how you want to proceed. DIY....or...get an expert to do the repaires.
