Bad intermittent idle and killing ignition module s

Asked by Azza164 Nov 15, 2016 at 09:47 AM about the 1993 Chevrolet S-10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced every sensor on the w code engine
and rebuilt the distributor replaced coil and cap
and rotor wires and plugs. Sometimes it starts and
runs fine other times it runs rough and dies, after 2
or 3 times cutting out its runs great. On top of all
that it seems to be killing ignition control module s
now. Runs great for 2 weeks then turn it off and
then NO spark! It's driving me nuts! Any ideas? S10

If the ignition system is working properly and everything is fine with it, check the the delivery system. A bad fuel pump, restricted lines, or improper voltage to the fuel pump module could cause the rough idle and stalling on acceleration

Forgot to mention, it has a new delco spider injection system pump relay s and filters too. Pressure is around 60 psi regardless if it runs fine or stumbles and dies

Maybe I have a overcharging alternator causing ignition problems, will put another module in then test the system. Could be my control module problem?
