It may be your switch that is bad. Your S-10 is 15 years old. See if you can find one at the junk yard "pick a part". and swap it out. Make sure you have the same options on the one you pick out and the one in your truck.

Try the switch that turns on and off your lights. It should be on the dash on the lower left side. If you go to a parts store, they should have a schematic on what the switch looks like and where the wires go. Sometime old retired mechanics work in the shops and may have some tips on what and how to change it.

Okay I can look for another switch. ..do you mean the switch that I use manually to the left of the steering wheel? thanks for all your help...it's been weeks since I've had lights....

Another thought would be the dimmer switch on the steering wheel. If it is broken and stuck in high beam, that just may be the issue. Yes the off on auto and parking lights switch on the left side of the instrument panel.

Well, the switch appears to be working fine. You're a great help, lots of options of what it could be. I will find a mechanic online around here hopefully to sort this out. I'll keep you posted. . Thanks again.....

Look for those that advertise electrical auto problems. they are the ones most likely to have encountered the issues before and that cuts down on the diagnosis and a quick fix.
