Hi, sounds like you have an air leak on the inlet system, check all vacuum and breather system hoses, if there are no apparent leaks then try CAREFULLY and avoiding around the distributor cap and spark plugs, spray Brake or Carb cleaner sparingly around the inlet manifold gasket and throttle body, what you are looking for is an increase in engine speed, the Brake cleaner will help to locate a blown or damaged gasket. Finally you could check the E.C.U for fault codes. The E.C.U is located ( U.K ) in the passenger footwell. Check out this helpful sight - www.92lude.com , click on 'How to's' in the menu and find 'Engine diagnostic codes' this will explain how to recover fault codes, specialist diagnostic equipment is NOT required.
