2006 ford escape won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay, riddle me this Batman. I've got a 2006 ford
escape that won't start. It's got power, it's got fuel.
It won't crank, it won't start, no dash lights come
on, the open door indicator sounds basically when
it wants to, sometimes it dings normally (or at
least until you turn the key about half way to the
start position), sometimes nothing, sometimes on
and off at random.

Any ideas what's wrong with this rolling outhouse?

This sounds like a problem with your ignition switch. Pretty common issue with these vehicles. I would start with the switch before trying the ignition cylinder. Copy & paste the following link to better diagnose your situation first. Hope this helps....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cewQT0Ko6X0

I've actually seen that video and I tried that and got absolutely nothing. Half the time it's like it doesn't even recognize that the key is there.

The video shows an issue with the cylinder. I would recommend the switch. The man in the video calls the cylinder a switch but the switch is a different part. Also, just because wiggling the key doesn't work, doesn't mean the cylinder isn't the issue.
