Why is my car shaking/ driving very hard?

Asked by Maci Mar 30, 2016 at 11:32 AM about the 2006 Ford Five Hundred

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start going like 15mph+ my car makes a very loud noise followed by shaking and riding very rough. My RMP gauge is another issued- while on the highway going maybe 50 mph the RMP was at 5,000 - the car is not shifting correctly - maybe the two are linked in some way? I need help.

Check transmission pan see if there's metal or look at dipstick. If there's not look at filter and check it if it needs changing make sure any old parts to it are out that's be simplest if there's metal in it get transmission rebuilt

Thank you! I feel so dumb now but when I got home from work I realized that my tire was completely blown out, and the sound/shaking was because of me driving on it. I hadn't even realized it was flat! The RPM issue still remains however....

Mine does the same thing on some days. Ride rough, sound like everything is falling from under the car. I put the car in park then drive and it drives normal. It registers always 0%oil life(with a new oil change. Sometimes check transmission, check battery. This car is crazy

8 Tee, your one issue reading 0% oil life can be reset using the buttons on the steering wheel. Reset it when you have the oil changed.
