Ford Focus 2006 repair clutch or not

Asked by Julie Feb 28, 2021 at 06:28 AM about the 2006 Ford Focus

Question type: General

I have a 2006 Ford Focus CL, from new, been a
good car till the last 12 months, electric front
windows switch replaced, steering pump replaced,
air cond evaporator not working, now clutch gone
at 175000km, not sure whether to replace clutch at
$1500 plus 6 hours labour or send it to the
wreckers for $500. Interior very good, serviced on
time since new. Used cars are so damn expensive
to buy at the moment. Not sure whether to replace
clutch or spend $6000 on a used car? Help please!

Tough choice. If you put $1500 into it, and get another year out it, you would do well enough. How is the rest of the vehicle. Suspension, tires and brakes all recently replaced? If you bought another vehicle at $6K, you very well might have to put money into as well. If you like your Focus and the rest is in fine shape for now, make the repair. If you hate the car, then try and find another. But like you said, car prices are inflated. Next year , I think prices will be much better. Kind of hard for use to say yes or no without looking and driving the car.
