Question type: Maintenance & Repair

batt went dead in parking lot so I got a jump, ran
for few minutes then died. I also had no power to
air or Windows.. I bought new batt just to get home
and then swapped alternator.  car runs fine but no
power and if I'm hook negative while running the
car dies. I located a relay that controls and
changed but same problem.  I even took a jumper
wire just to test and boom I got  a.c. , windows,
dash and parking lights come on but they stay on
so I can't use that.. any ideas? please help

Do NOT unhook any battery cables when the engine is running as this in some cases can cause serious damage to the electrical system. Check for 12 volts (battery charged of course) at the big wire on the alternator engine off and key off. If you dob't have 12 volts then a fuse or fusible link is open and the battery is not being charged by the alternator. Also have the alternator tested.

if u got lights with a jumper then the solution seems easy , its a wiring issue. follow the wires with your jumper wire testing a few inches apart until you find it.
