Swapping engines on a 1999 Subaru Forester.

I have a 1999 Subaru Forester, but the
motors blown. I'm wondering if it is
possible to put the 2.5 RS in the forester.
And if not what would be the best engine
to put in that I can still apply my turbos
too. Thanks!

1999 was kind of an odd year.. some are 2.5 DOHC (phase 1) and some are 2.5 SOHC (phase 2). Do some searching.. if you have phase 2, you should be able to use like 99-04 as a complete setup, I think. If it's phase 1, do some searching as I'm not as familiar with it. I would be interested to know if you have 1 or 2 though.

The Subaru is unfortunately a 2.5 SOHC. I did some searching, but still stumped.
Well, from what Ern has said about the 2.5 DOHC.. they just don't hold up like the SOHC's do, older ones that is. IDK about new ones. I'm so glad neither of our Foresters are DOHC. I missed the part about the turbo.. are you running a turbo on your SOHC and that's why it's blown? IDK much about turbo stuff, theory, operation, standalone, MS, etc.. I know some people run too much boost and get creep and then blow a HG. What are you stumped about? Finding another 2.5 SOHC from a 99-04 Forester? check out ebay or www.car-part.com
Where are you? Still need an engine for the 1999 Forester?
