Anti Theft problem

Asked by Softball4 Sep 25, 2015 at 11:04 AM about the 2005 Pontiac G6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We just bought this car and we have tried everything.  We replaced the cluster, ignition switch, new keys and fab key for this car and we still have the same problem.  When you are driving down the road the anti theft signal blinks on and reads error.  The air conditioner will blow hot air, the speedometer starts going back and forth and the fuel level reads empty but will still run.  Then when you stop and try to start it it will not work.  Please help!!  My daughter loves her car.

if were in my shop i would start at the fuse - relay box under the hood this is alot of different systems. look for corrosion, signs of heat or loose connections . also could be a common ground problem look under dash left kick panel

Is a sensor located in the steering wheel column .this sensor detects the transponder chip when this unit goes bad loss signal from the key. You can bypass it or replace it .good luck i hopes it helps.

I'm having the exact same problem and I don't want to buy a bunch of different parts and not solve the problem, I was gonna buy a new key switch and keys but I see you tried that, I've seen and read this is a common problem with these cars, any suggestions for me to start with?
