The ride should be about the same. The "L" is five inches longer.

would not the longer length mean a larger chassis and a 'different' ride, more squishy and floaty? so I'm going to say 460L is the smoother ride.

tenspeed: I don't understand what u mean-----in take the 460 for a ride-----please explain. Thank you

You gotta decide for yourself maryb979, Not entirely certain about the princess and the pea reference, I think it's a matter of tryin' it out fer yerself- then decide. four inches extra makes it just that much tougher to parallel park~

The car will park it self with its parking system if you rreally want it too. Yes the "L" is longer because it is the luxury model. You can get a regular 460 with the air suspension if you would really like. They ride very comparable. It's all personal preference! :)

The air suspension option on either the long or short wheelbase of the LS 460 will provide you with a couple options for ride control. Irrespective, the comfort on the air suspension setting is smoother and softer than the ride of the standard metal spring suspension. In spite of the potential for additional maintenance costs associated with an air suspension, it would always be my first choice for any vehicle.

In my research I have noticed the L models all have AVS (Air suspension) as *Standard* equipment, and not as installed options from the factory. On the SWB models however they are listed under factory installed options. Lexus does provide a Vin Decoder to backup my discovery here....https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/resources/viewSpecifications? redirect_uri=lexusdrivers/resources/vehicle-specs#/collapseTwo
